Kuqi: I Thought The Worst - Ipswich Town News

Striker Shefki Kuqi admits he thought the worst after sustaining a hamstring injury during Saturday's 2-0 victory over Charlton. The Finnish international was worried his return to Town might have come to an early end, but the problem was not as serious as was first feared.

The 31-year-old told the club site: "I knew where Tommy was going to pass the ball and felt I was through on goal.

"Then I felt this sudden pain in the back of my leg. I've not had anything like it before and just went down on the ground. I tried to get up and walk on it, but it was no good.

"I'd warmed up fine. I always do a lot of running and stretching, so I suppose it was just one of those things, but I did think the worst when I was being carried off and in the dressing room after the game.

"I've hardly ever had a hamstring injury and it was still painful the next day, but I did some deep water running on Monday and today and it's improving all the time."

Kuqi, who is on loan from Crystal Palace until the end of the season, has definitely been ruled out of Saturday's trip to Scunthorpe.
