Bent Deal Still Possible - Ipswich Town News

TWTD understands that former Blue Darren Bent could still make a dramatic return to the Blues on loan, despite earlier reports that the deal had broken down. A Town move for the England and Tottenham striker has been rumoured for some weeks with Jim Magilton keen to add to his striking options.

Bent, who has failed to nail down a first team place at White Hart Lane since his summer move from Charlton, is believed to be keen on the switch, but Spurs boss Juande Ramos is understood to holding up the deal due to concerns that he would be short of striking options if Bent moved on.

Town's initial approach was made last month after their attempt to sign David Nugent on loan from Portsmouth failed due to the player's unwillingness to drop back into the Championship so soon after his move to a Premier League side. Stoke have subsequently failed in their loan bid for the former Preston man.

Bent joining the Blues would see him reunited with Shefki Kuqi, his strike partner during the 2004/05 season in which the England international scored 19 times and the Finn 20 as Town finished third in the table.
