Wright in Squad - Ipswich Town News

Town's clash with Crystal Palace next week looks set to be postponed after Richard Wright was called into Kevin Keegan's England squad for the match with Belgium on October 10th. Wrigis footballing abilities. Gary Croft has never been in any trouble with the Police or Courts in his life before, other than the speeding offences which led to his disqualification in July this year. As you have heard, Gary has apologised to the Club and to the supporters. I would like to stress that we do not condone in any way any form of breach of the law by a member of our staff."

Croft himself apologised and added "If I am given the opportunity to play for the Club between now and this case being finalised, I shall put all my concentration and energy into playing at my very best and hopefully winning back some of the respect which the bringing of these charges will have cost me."

George Burley said "As his Manager, I am both disappointed and astonished at the charges brought against Gary Croft. He previously had a first class record at Grimsby and Blackburn Rovers and he has really let himself down as well as the Club. We have withdrawn him from the squad for Saturday's fixture against Grimsby which will no doubt be a great disappointment to him. We will look at the situation in the next few weeks but one thing is for sure, Gary has got to be totally honest and trustworthy as far as the Club is concerned from now on. Everyone makes mistakes and there is no doubt that Gary has made a major one".
