Supple One of Three to Win Caps - Ipswich Town News
Shane Supple won his first Republic of Ireland U21 cap as they drew 1-1 with Montenegro in a European Championships qualifier in Galway on Tuesday evening. Also in the side was fellow Falkirk loanee Billy Clarke.
Clarke, who was winning his seventh U21 cap, started in midfield but was replaced at the break. Owen Garvan was unavailable after being booked twice earlier in the campaign. Ireland have no chance of qualifying for the finals.
Academy midfielder Ed Upson won his fifth cap for the England U19s as they beat Russia 3-1 in a friendly at Milton Keynes. Upson, 18, played the first 66 minutes of the game.
This evening, midfielder Velice Sumulikoski is expected to be in the full Macedonia side which takes on Bosnia-Herzegovina in Zenica.
There is some confusion regarding the number of caps won by the January signing from Bursapor. The player himself believes tonight's game will be his 50th appearance, official Macedonian records make it his 49th, while UEFA's stats show that it will be his 48th.
Central defender Chris Casement is in the Northern Ireland U21 squad for this afternoon's friendly with Romania at Ballymena. Casement has previously won eight caps at U21 level.
