Murphy Off as U18s Lose at Spurs - Ipswich Town News

Irish U17 international striker Paul Murphy was red-carded as Town's U18s completed their league season with a 3-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at Spurs Lodge on Saturday morning.

Murphy was given a straight red card in the 75th minute for a retaliatory shove on a Spurs player after he had been fouled. The home side also ended the game with 10 men after one of their players received a second yellow card.

The Blues once again fielded Lewis Rhodes, younger brother of Jordan and son of Andy, in goal, the Woodbridge Town player having signed temporary forms to come in as injury cover.

Town's overall record for the season in the FA Premier Academy League reads played 28, won nine, drew five, lost 14. With other teams still to complete their fixtures, the Blues look likely to finish eighth or ninth in their 11-team group.

The FA Premier Academy League is organised such that sides play everyone in their group twice as well as having another eight games against teams from the other three groups.

U18s: L Rhodes, Clemo, Watson, Eastman, Robinson, Lambe (Dunbar 68), Daniels (Clark 60), Reason, Upson, Ainsley, Murphy.
