Kuqi: I'll Be Back - Ipswich Town News

Striker Shefki Kuqi says he should be back in action for Town's final two games of the season after limping off during Sunday's 2-1 derby victory over Norwich City. Central defender Alex Bruce is also hopeful his hamstring problem isn't too serious.

Kuqi says his injury is not the same one he suffered on his second Town debut last month: "I am having a scan today, but it is not as bad as when I strained my hamstring against Charlton.

"It is in a different place and I was able to walk away from the ground. I am happy in my own mind that I can play the last two games - and the play-offs.”

Bruce says he has a similar problem but is confident he'll be fine: "It's a bit of a hamstring problem up by my backside, but it is nothing much.

"Having hurt my shin on Wednesday, I was perhaps running a bit differently and this caused the pain.”

Town boss Jim Magilton signalled his intention to recall youngster Tommy Smith from Stevenage Borough if Bruce's problem was serious after Sunday's game, but the 18-year-old looks likely to remain at Broadhall Way at least for the moment. Town can recall the England U18 international at 24 hours' notice.

Meanwhile, the Blues have said that any season ticket renewals received today and on Tuesday will be treated as if they arrived ahead of Sunday's ‘early bird' deadline. The club expect sales to reach the 15,000 mark achieved this season.

Elsewhere, police have revealed there were only six arrests made at Sunday's derby, three for public order offences and three for drinking in sight of the pitch.
