Kuqi to Return to Training - Ipswich Town News

Striker Shefki Kuqi is expected to return to training on Thursday and could be in with a chance of facing Preston at Deepdale on Saturday. The Finnish international limped off in the first half of the 2-1 derby victory over Norwich City with a hamstring problem.

Kuqi is only likely to be amongst the subs at Deepdale with Players' Player of the Year and Coporate Boxholders Player of the Year Jon Walters set to continue up front alongside Pablo Couñago.

Walters has dedicated his gongs to Town physios Matt Byard and Mark Endacott, who helped him play despite his ongoing knee problem: "Their expert work has nursed me through and kept me going for most of the season. Without them I would not have won these awards.

"It is always an honour to receive an award, but to be voted for by your fellow players makes it even more special.”

Veteran defender Fabian Wilnis was handed a special long service award at last night's end of season dinner by boss Jim Magilton. The Dutchman's nine-year spell with the club is expected to end in the summer when his current contract expires.
