Kuqi in Jim's Plans for Preston - Ipswich Town News
Boss Jim Magilton has confirmed that on-loan striker Shefki Kuqi could come into his plans for Saturday's trip to Preston North End. The Finnish international will train today, having recovered from the hamstring problem which forced him off in the 2-1 derby victory over Norwich City.
Magilton told the club site: "Shefki has worked closely with our medical team on his recovery over the last week or two and is desperate to get back playing.
"He will train with us today and, if he comes through that OK, then he will come into contention for Saturday's match at Preston.
"We will have a good look at him first though, both today and on Friday, before making a decision."
Kuqi is only likely to be a sub at Deepdale with Jon Walters expected to partner Pablo Couñago up front.
Meanwhile, former Town striker David Lowe has left Wigan's youth set-up to become head coach at Derby County. Lowe worked with Rams boss Paul Jewell during his time as manager with the Latics.
Derby plan to scrap their reserve side next season due to the lack of a competitive competition for non-Premier League teams. The Rams will instead play regular behind-closed-doors friendlies at their training ground.
