Town's crunch final day of the season home game with Hull City on Sunday afternoon will be one of two games shown live by Sky Sports (KO 2pm). Stoke City's game with Leicester at the Britannia Stadium will be the other match screened.
The Blues are expecting a sell-out crowd with Ticket Office manager John Ford telling the club site that business is brisk: "The phones were very busy on Monday and we are expecting the same today.
"We have already sold around 24,000 - 25,000 tickets and it's certain to be the second biggest gate of the season.
"The interest seems to be growing all the time and I would imagine we will be very close to a full house on Sunday, if not sold out."
Hull, still in with a chance of automatic promotion if Stoke lose and they win, have sold out of tickets for the game and have organised a beamback to the KC Stadium.
Town are likely to be at full strength aside from Richard Naylor, who underwent neck surgery recently, and David Norris, whose heel injury is still causing him problems.
Hull skipper Ian Ashbee has declared the game the most important in his career and perhaps the most significant in the Tigers' 104-year history: "Next weekend will be the biggest game that I've been involved with.
"It's a massive game for this club and if we can get Hull City promoted to the Premier League for the first time, it would be huge achievement.
"I've been here for six years now and I know what type of city it is. To do it for the supporters would be brilliant.
"There are a lot of things making me determined. To skipper the side and possibly play in every division with this club is something I'm very proud of. That would stay with me forever."
Hull could be at full strength with Dean Windass likely to be OK having had 20 stitches in his ankle after Saturday's game with Crystal Palace, while Henrik Pedersen, who scored twice in the Tigers' 3-1 win over Town at the KC Stadium, is expected to be OK after being subbed in the first half against the Eagles.
Left-back Andy Dawson may also return after a foot problem, while long-term absentees Richard Garcia and Jay Jay Okocha â€" whose set pieces created havoc in the Town defence at the KC Stadium â€" could also be back in contention for places in Phil Brown's squad.
Meanwhile, on-loan Town keeper Stephen Bywater says he wants to stay with Town next season: "I have an option to stay with Ipswich and I would like to do that.
"Derby have signed Roy Carroll on contract until the summer of 2010, so the assumption is that I would go back to them to sit on the bench.
"I am keen to play and, at my age, feel I ought to be playing. I have a year to go on my Derby contract, but will be doing all I can to impress Ipswich manager Jim Magilton over the remaining matches."
