Magilton Faces FA Charge - Ipswich Town News

Town boss Jim Magilton is likely to receive a touchline ban at the FA disciplinary hearing into his sending to the stands at Stoke City in February later today. The Blues boss was charged with using abusive and/or insulting words to referee Mick Jones in the incident.

Magilton was unhappy with the way the home side were using the multi-ball system to their advantage and complained too vociferously to the official.

The Town manager looks likely to be handed a lengthy ban after receiving a fine for a similar offence earlier in the season at Burnley.

Magilton said shortly after the the charge that he would not be appealing, but would state his case against the multi-ball system which he sees as unfair: "I won't be appealing over the decision, there is no point.

"I'll have to take my punishment and get on with it, but there will be managers up and down the country that would have behaved in the same way as I did.

"We don't have multi-ball at our club because we don't need it. Our ballboys and girls throw the ball back as quickly as they can for both teams.

"I'd like to see the ball thrown back to us as quickly as it is to the home side when we are playing away, but it doesn't always happen. In short, I'd like to see the multi-ball system banned."

Meanwhile, academy midfielder Reggie Lambe is likely to be in action with the Bermuda national side today in a friendly against Chelsea reserves. The Bermudian squad are currently holding a training camp at Fulham's Motspur Park.

Elsewhere, TWTD understands that Town chief scout Steve McCall is set to make a further trip to scout players in Poland. McCall made his previous visit to check out potential Polish signings in September.
