Murphy Set for Irish Action - Ipswich Town News
Academy striker Paul Murphy is likely to be in action for the Republic of Ireland against Switzerland at the UEFA U17 Championship in Turkey this afternoon. The 17-year-old scored in Ireland's 2-1 defeat to France on Sunday.
Murphy, who will win his 12th U17 cap if he plays today, says the Turkish temperatures take some getting used to: "I'm not making excuses because I think France are a very good team but I think tiredness kicked in at the end.
"It is very different to what we are used to and it showed in the last 20 minutes. But hopefully by Wednesday we'll be used to it more."
Ireland's final group game is against Spain on Saturday evening.
Meanwhile, former Blue Neil Alexander looks set to play in the UEFA Cup final for Rangers after first choice keeper Allan McGregor was ruled out for the rest of the season.
