David Sheepshanks says club owner Marcus Evans will be patient and not put manager Jim Magilton under unnecessary pressure as the Blues look to reach the Premier League. The Town chairman confirmed that Evans is backing Magilton, who signed a new two-year deal in December.
Sheepshanks said: "Marcus Evans said from the outset that he wants promotion but he is not going to put Jim under undue pressure.
"He is prepared to be patient as long as he sees improvement. Marcus and I, each from our own positions, are totally behind Jim and believe in his ability to achieve our aims.â€Â
Sheepshanks says the Blues back by Evans's cash will be able to compete next season: "Although the Championship will have three more well-funded teams coming down from the Premier League, our new investment creates a different picture this time.
"We are able to compete on a level footing and we have to buy wisely and use the money well but we can look foreword to the season with great optimism.
"Town supporters should be under no illusion that Marcus Evans intends to back a promotion-winning team.â€Â
Sheepshanks says the club have nothing new to say regarding the club's new sponsor, although TWTD understands that SnOasis are not leading contenders despite having met with the club earlier in the year.
Meanwhile, defender David Wright says he quite fancies following Jason De Vos as Town captain: "I've captained all the sides I've been at and I always find it a great honour and a great privilege.
"It would be a great responsibility to have but there are a number of individuals who could do it and whoever the gaffer chooses will have the backing of all the lads and do a great job.â€Â
Elsewhere, former Blue Darryl Knights has been released by Yeovil. The striker is expected to join Kidderminster Harriers with whom he spent the end of the season on loan.
