Derby defender Jay McEveley has been linked with a return to the Blues by one of this morning's Scottish newspapers. The 22-year-old former Town loanee is believed to be one of a number of players set to be shown the door by Paul Jewell over the summer.
McEveley, then a Blackburn player, made 17 starts and two sub appearances for the Blues, scoring one goal, during a loan spell in the 2005/06 season which was interrupted by a lengthy spell out with a knee injury.
The former England U21 international left-back or central defender has since won Scotland caps at senior level and joined Derby County in January 2007 for £600,000.
Former boss Joe Royle was keen to sign the 6ft 1in tall defender permanently at the end of his time on loan at Portman Road, but the fee required by Blackburn was beyond the Blues at that point in time. Whether Jim Magilton, who played alongside McEveley for Town, would be interested in re-signing him remains to be seen, although his squad is currently short of left-backs.
Over the weekend, another Derby defender, centre-half Dean Leacock was linked with the Blues, Coventry and Hull City.
Meanwhile, another Scottish report says Falkirk will move quickly to try to secure Shane Supple's permanent signing from the Blues. The 21-year-old Irishman, who has been on loan with the Bairns since January, has a year left on his Town contract.
