Carlisle Receive Westwood Enquiries - Ipswich Town News

Carlisle boss John Ward says his club have already received three enquiries regarding their promising young keeper Keiren Westwood. Town, Newcastle United, Birmingham, Watford and Wolves have all been linked with the 23-year-old.

Ward said: "We have already had three tentative enquiries for Keiren Westwood, and we have to accept that there will probably be more in the weeks ahead. He does have one more year left on his contract, and we have been talking to him about that, but we will have to wait until he gets back from holiday before we see where he wants to go with that.

"We've also accepted that we will now have to listen to any offers that come in for him because he is a player that has caught the eye around the game, and there are people interested in him. The fact that he has now been involved with the Irish squad has also increased the awareness and interest that surrounds him.”

Town are known to want to sign at least one keeper over the summer with Stephen Bywater and Nick Colgan unlikely to be offered deals and Shane Supple keen on a permanent move to Falkirk in order to play games.

TWTD understands that former Blue Richard Wright would be interested in a return to Portman Road with boss Jim Magilton already having confirmed that he would like to bring the West Ham stopper back to Suffolk.

However, Tony Mowbray and West Brom are also chasing Wright and the lure of Premier League football may be too much to resist.

Other keepers to be linked with the Blues this summer include Thomas Sørensen, recently released by Aston Villa, Liverpool youngster David Martin and Linfield's Alan Mannus.
