Leicester: No McAuley Bids So Far - Ipswich Town News

Leicester City chief executive Paul Aldridge says his club is yet to receive an offer from Town for central defender Gareth McAuley. However, Aldridge admitted the League One club would have to consider any offer which came in for their players.

Yesterday, Town boss Jim Magilton confirmed that McAuley was still on his radar after the Blues failed in their attempts to sign the Northern Ireland international during the January transfer window.

Aldridge says whoever takes over as the Foxes new manager will find a trimmed squad and no scope for making additions: "There certainly won't be new players coming in.

"Players going out, we will have to consider any offer that's made to us and respond accordingly. We haven't got anything to consider at the moment."

Reports earlier in the week claimed that Leicester want £1.75 million for the 28-year-old, who signed a new contract until 2011 in February.

Elsewhere, Reading are the latest side linked with Dagenham and Redbridge left-back Scott Griffiths. Town, Leeds, Southampton and Charlton are also believed to be chasing the 22-year-old.

US international centre-half Carlos Bocanegra, released by Fulham and linked with the Blues last month, is biding his time before deciding on his future, according to his agent Joe Schoenbauer: "We have spoken with several clubs and they are monitoring him. Without a doubt, Carlos's preference is to remain playing soccer in Europe."

With Jim Magilton admitting that he sees Gareth McAuley as his preferred replacement for Jason De Vos and young Dutch central defender Pim Balkestein believed to be on the verge of joining Town, Bocanegra looks less likely to be joining the Blues than Coventry, who have also been mentioned in connection with the ex-Chicago Fire man and who are managed by former Cottagers' boss Chris Coleman. PSV Eindhoven and Spanish side Osasuna have also both been linked.
