Bowden: No Offers For Town Players - Ipswich Town News

Town chief executive Derek Bowden says the Blues are yet to receive offers for any of their players. Yesterday, Stoke City were reported to have shown interest in striker Jon Walters.

Bowden said: "We have had no offers for contracted players and we are not inviting any either.”

Manager Jim Magilton made five players â€" Gary Roberts, Matt Richards, Billy Clarke, Dan Harding and Gavin Williams â€" available for transfer last month, but Bowden says that while the club has received some interest, there have been no firm bids.

Meanwhile, it is reported that chairman David Sheepshanks has twice offered to relinquish his position as chairman since Marcus Evans took over the club at the end of last year, only to be asked to stay by the Blues' owner.

Last week the chairman moved to a non-executive role without salary or benefits which will see him vacate his Portman Road office at the end of the month.

Elsewhere, Nottingham Forest manager Colin Calderwood says he is confident that midfielder Sammy Clingan, linked with the Blues and a number of other clubs, will sign a new deal at the City Ground: "We are waiting on Sammy. He and Kris Commons were the two out of contract and we are waiting to hear back from him.

"Hopefully this weekend or next week we will hear something, but we want him to get it signed.

"We want to move forward this week in terms of what he is thinking of doing. Everyone has had a break with their holidays and then in the next week we will be doing a bit of work and, hopefully, we can get Sammy signed and progress with one or two other deals. Then we can have a break again before we come back for pre-season.

"Sammy has developed physically and maturity-wise in terms of his game. He has been excellent and is an international footballer. We want to keep him."

Dagenham and Redbridge chairman Dave Andrews says his club are yet to receive an official approach from Town regarding left-back Scott Griffiths, although manager John Still has been away from his desk this week: "We haven't heard anything official from them.

"The first call would be to John anyway, as he deals with that side of things and we wouldn't go over his head, but he's on annual holiday at the moment.

"I'm not surprised there is interest as Scott had a very good season. While we don't want to let people go, as we want to keep our players for the new season, if a decent offer came in, we would let Scott know straight away.

"I couldn't not do that to the lad, as if it was my son, then I would want him to know about the interest."
