Lambe and Bermuda Out to Complete Job - Ipswich Town News

Academy midfielder Reggie Lambe and his Bermuda side will be out to secure a place in the group stages of CONCACAF's World Cup qualification process on Sunday when they face Trinidad and Tobago for the second time. The Bermudians shocked the Caribbean team by defeating them 2-1 in Port of Spain a week ago.

If the Gombey Warriors complete the job at home in Prospect it will be huge result for both countries. Bermuda, population 60,000, are ranked 139th in the world, 52 places below Trinidad and Tobago, population 1.2 million, who would become the first side which qualified for the World Cup in 2006 to be eliminated from the 2010 competition.

Lambe suspects he may play a peripheral role on Sunday: "Trinidad will be chasing the game so they probably want more physical players on the pitch. If I get on I'll try and make the most of it.

"If we all stick together and strive for the win we should come through. Trinidad missed a few good chances last week. Timmy [Figureido] had an awesome game in goal. They'll probably come at us again, but our defence is looking tight, so we should be able to hold off and even try to put some pressure on them."

The 17-year-old, nicknamed ‘Superman' by his international team-mates, apparently due to his dancefloor antics, says if he gets on he'll be looking to test the Trinidad defenders: "I love to run at full-backs - at any player. I like to try them out. If it's not working on one side, switch to the other."

The game is a sell-out and the Blues' youngest ever full international says he is very much looking forward to it: "I think it's going to be awesome. A lot of people have gotten tickets. If everyone brings out their flags and their horns and their voices and makes some noise, it will be exciting."

Lambe will win his seventh full cap if he is involved on Sunday, having been used as a late sub during last week's first leg.
