Ameobi Set for West Brom - Ipswich Town News

West Brom are reportedly edging closer to signing Town target Shola Ameobi from Newcastle United. The Baggies are said to have agreed a £2.5 million initial fee for the former England U21 international.

The Blues are amongst a number of clubs keen on the 26-year-old, but it appears Tony Mowbray's side are winning the race, with Ameobi keen to remain in the Premier League.

Elsewhere, reported Town target Martin Paterson looks set to sign for Burnley early this week, while former Blue Darren Bent has been linked with a move from Spurs to Everton.

Meanwhile, academy midfielder Reggie Lambe was an unused sub as Bermuda crashed out of the World Cup as they were controversially defeated 2-0 at home by Trinidad and Tobago, the Caribbean side progressing 3-2 on aggregate.

The Bermudians were left seething after the Guatemalan referee appeared to show two yellow cards to Trinidad captain Aurtis Whitley but no red during the first half and allowed the visitors to take the freekick from which they scored their winning goal while Bermuda were in the process of making a substitution.
