Fab Set for Colchester? - Ipswich Town News

Released Town defender Fabian Wilnis says that he could join Colchester United now that his lengthy spell with the Blues has come to an end. The U's are one of a number of clubs interested in signing the 37-year-old.

Wilnis says a switch to the North Essex side would be a good move for him, although he has several options, including one in Scotland: "I have some offers to consider and a couple of meetings planned with other clubs this week. Colchester would be ideal, but we must wait and see on that one.

"It is a big decision for me to make. Do I opt for a one-year playing deal or for a deal where I can combine playing with coaching for a season?

"My aim is to become a coach and I have to consider this and what will be best for me.”

Wilnis recently passed his UEFA B coaching badge but there is currently no role for the Dutchman at Portman Road. The ex-De Graafschap man, who will have a testimonial game at Portman Road during the new season, plans to stay living in Ipswich having spent nine years with the Blues.
