Paterson Completes Burnley Move - Ipswich Town News

Scunthorpe striker Martin Paterson has completed his move to Burnley having agreed personal terms at Turf Moor this morning. The Clarets and the Iron agreed a £1.3 million fee for the Northern Irish international on Saturday with the Blues and Norwich both having been linked.

The 21-year-old has signed a four-year contract, with Scunthorpe receiving £1 million up front plus another £300,000 on appearances.

Meanwhile, Town have again been linked with a move for West Brom frontman Kevin Phillips. Three weeks ago, TWTD reported that Town were keeping an eye on the former Sunderland man's situation.

Out-of-contract Phillips, now 34, wants a two-year deal but Albion are only willing to offer the ex-England man a single season extension to his stay at the Hawthorns.

A fortnight ago, Phillips was reported to have told a Birmingham newspaper that he will be joining Derby, who are willing to offer him the terms he requires, although this is yet to be confirmed. Leeds United and perhaps inevitably QPR have also been linked.

Elsewhere, former Town striker Marcus Stewart has been offered a player-coach role at current club Yeovil. The 35-year-old, keen to take his first steps in coaching, looked set to leave Huish Park over the summer after initially being offered only a playing contract.
