Player Set to Depart? - Ipswich Town News

Town could be about to make their first player sale of the summer, according to reports this lunchtime. The Blues are said to be close to sealing a deal which would see a player leave the club.

The identity of the man involved remains a mystery at present, although it could well be one of the five players transfer-listed at the end of the season. Gary Roberts, Gavin Williams, Billy Clarke, Dan Harding and Matt Richards were all made available by boss Jim Magilton.

Roberts was interesting former club Accrington Stanley, but the League Two club have said the midfielder's personal terms would be beyond them, while Matt Richards is believed to be a target of Brighton, the side with whom he spent last season on loan.

Meanwhile, contrary to earlier reports David Norris and Richard Naylor will be in action on the first day of pre-season training. Physio Matt Byard told the club site that the duo will join their team-mates on Wednesday: "Both Richard and David will be running with the rest of the lads tomorrow.

"They will not take part in the football activity though. They probably need another week or so before that can happen but we are very happy with the progress they are making.

"They will both see a specialist, probably next week, for a final consultation and then we will push on from there.

"They will be fine for the start of the season but at the moment it's a case of monitoring them day by day and increasing their rehabilitation when we feel the time is right."

The club have confirmed that Owen Garvan and Alex Bruce will be given a further fortnight off after being involved with the Republic of Ireland, although there is no mention of Jaime Peters being given an extended break after his time away with Canada.
