Rhodes Signs New Town Deal - Ipswich Town News

Striker Jordan Rhodes has signed a new contract with the Blues aimed at keeping him at Portman Road until 2011. Rhodes, 18, became the first Town player to have been born in the 1990s when he made his first team debut against Burnley last season.

Rhodes, who scored his first senior goal against Cardiff in April, previously signed a contract in 2007 which was up in the summer of 2009.

Boss Jim Magilton told the club site that he is delighted to have secured the striker on a longer term deal: "Jordan made great progress last season and became an important member of the first team squad.

"The new contract is good news for him and he fully deserves it."

The prolific striker joined the Blues from Barnsley as a schoolboy in 2005 for a fee of £5,000 after his father Andy had become Town's goalkeeper-coach. Rhodes senior left the Blues last month.

TWTD understands that one of Rhodes's academy team-mates Jai Reason is set to sign his first professional deal next week, Town having offered the contract to the 18-year-old last season.
