Charisteas Offer Accepted? - Ipswich Town News

The Blues and Nuremberg have agreed a fee of £2.25 million for Greek international Angelos Charisteas and Town have been given permission to talk to the 28-year-old, according to one of this morning's tabloids.

The story looks to be a rehash of yesterday's report which claimed an agreement regarding the fee was close and that Town had been allowed to speak with the player.

However, the Greek and German media continue to report that Nuremberg have turned down Town's offer and that Charisteas is not interested in joining the Blues. The striker is believed to want to stay in Germany although probably with another club, Nuremberg having been relegated last season.

According to various Greek sources, the Blues offered Charisteas a three-year deal worth €1.6 million a season (€30,000 or £20,000-a-week).
