Preston Deny Claims of Town Bids for Keeper - Ipswich Town News

Preston North End chairman Derek Shaw has denied that Town have made three bids for their keeper Andrew Lonergan. Reports in Lancashire this morning claimed the Blues had offered a seven-figure sum for the 24-year-old but had been rebuffed.

Shaw said: "I have received one phone call from Ipswich, they asked about Andrew and were told he is not for sale.

"Contrary to reports, we've not received any bids whatsoever, certainly not a seven-figure sum I can assure you.

"The conversation didn't get that far, they were told he is not for sale and we have no intention of selling him."

Lonergan is the latest in a long line of keepers to be linked with the Blues this summer with Town's move to re-sign Richard Wright appearing to have stalled in recent weeks, perhaps due to speculation regarding the future of Hammers' number one Robert Green. The former Canary has been linked with Aston Villa and Blackburn Rovers.

Over the weekend German sources linked the Blues with Wolfsburg glovesman Simon Jentzsch, while innumerable other keepers have also been mentioned in connection with the Blues since the end of the season.
