Walters to Face Brentford - Ipswich Town News

Boss Jim Magilton has sought to allay fan fears regarding the future of Jon Walters by announcing the striker's inclusion in the side playing Brentford at Griffin Park on Friday (KO 7.30pm).

Town are still to comment directly on Stoke's apparent interest in the former Chester man but Magilton says he will be in action against the League Two side: "Jon will be fine and fit and playing for us tomorrow.”

Walters missed the game against the English Universities at Loughborough University last Friday due to a minor injury.

The Blues boss was very pleased with his side's efforts in soaking conditions at Bury Town on Tuesday: "It was a great night. The pitch helped us because we could move the ball quickly. It was a good work out and many of those lads will be involved tomorrow.

"For a lot of others it will be their first game, so we will give as many as we can a run out even if it is just for 45 minutes, we will cater it to their needs. Then we have Monday, Thursday and Saturday in Ireland.”

Dean Bowditch did much to suggest that he will try to make the most of his new one-year deal and is likely to be in the travelling party along with the likes of Gary Roberts, Liam Trotter, Jaime Peters and Billy Clarke.

Richard Naylor was left out of the Bury side as he is making excellent progress after his neck surgery and will also be involved against the Bees.

Tickets at Brentford cost £10 for adults, £5 for senior citizens and £1 for juniors.
