Boss Jim Magilton has confirmed his interest in Southampton midfielder Rudi Skácel and says the deal could still be on. TWTD was first to break the news of Town's interest in the Czech international on Tuesday.
Magilton told the club site: "I see Rudi as a player that would add some extra quality to our squad. He has been to the club this week and had a look around and he was impressed by the facilities here and our plans for the future.
"We would like him at this club and have made him a very good offer and now it's down to him. He has gone back to Prague to think over the move and we expect a decision very soon."
Skácel joined Hertha Berlin in January because he felt his chances of getting in the Czech squad were being hampered by playing in the Championship. Magilton says this will be one of the matters the 28-year-old will consider while back home: "I know that playing for the Czech national side is very important to Rudi.
"Whether he thinks his chances will be affected by playing in the Championship is something I'm sure he will talk to people about before making a decision."
Yesterday, reports claimed the deal had broken down due to a failure to agree personal terms, with German sides also believed to be interested in the former Hearts player.
