No Charisteas Talks Yet - Ipswich Town News

Angelos Charisteas's agent Paul Koutsoliakos says his player is yet to decide whether or not he would want to join the Blues. Widespread reports in the Greek and German media earlier in the week claimed the 28-year-old was not interested in the move.

Koutsoliakos says no talks have taken place with the Blues: "We have not spoken yet, so it is impossible to say whether he would be interested in joining Ipswich or not.

"Until it comes upon my table there is nothing to say. Angelos returns from holiday on Monday and will start pre-season training with Nuremburg who then go to Austria a few days later.”

The situation continues to be confused with some claims that a fee has been agreed and others that it has been turned down. Charisteas's club Nuremberg have confirmed that they expect him to leave over the summer with a fee of around £2.5 million to £2.7 million generally claimed to be the offer made by the Blues.

Meanwhile, a report this morning claims the Blues would have to pay Crewe £2.5 million if they want to buy striker Nicky Maynard. This valuation is higher than previous reports which put Crewe's price tag at £2 million.

Elsewhere, former Blue George O'Callaghan has joined Tranmere only months after returning to Cork City from Town, while Brighton have agreed terms with Darren Currie and the midfielder's move back to the Withdean Stadium is all done bar the paperwork.
