Charisteas: I Will Stay With Nuremberg - Ipswich Town News
Town target Angelos Charisteas says he will be staying with current club Nuremberg, despite interest from the Blues and other sides. The Blues have been given permission to speak to the Greek international having all but agreed a fee with the relegated German side.
Nuremberg are planning for their 2008/09 campaign with a view to Charisteas moving on, however, the player himself says he is determined to get them back in the Bundesliga and is itching to get back into training this week: "I'll be back on Monday and will remain at the club.
"My thoughts are 100 per cent with the club. Other clubs do not interest me. It is a beautiful thing to help Nuremberg rise again."
Over the weekend Nuremberg sporting director Martin Bader revealed that in addition to Town's interest clubs from Spain and Portugal had also enquired about the 28-year-old.
Charisteas's intention to stay may not be what Nuremberg were expecting or hoping for, with the club keen to reduce their wage bill for the season ahead.
