Jim: No Decision on Permanent Captain - Ipswich Town News
Boss Jim Magilton says he will continue to choose a captain on a match-by-match basis during pre-season. Alex Bruce and then briefly David Wright wore the armband against Brentford on Friday with someone else set to get the nod at Cliftonville this evening.
Magilton said: "Every team needs four or five leaders and Alex had a taste of it as captain, but we will throw the arm band around.
"That is not being discourteous or disrespectful, it is just about finding the right people to take it.
"Alex is a natural leader but then so are one or two others so we will hand it around during pre-season and make a decision going into the first game.â€Â
Various players are in the running for the role long-time once the season starts, with new signing Gareth McAuley perhaps seen as one of the favourites.
