Fortune Could Come on Trial - Ipswich Town News

Boss Jim Magilton says former Manchester United winger Quinton Fortune could join the Blues on trial. Fortune was first linked with the Blues by a number of national newspapers yesterday with the player's agent confirming contact with Town earlier today.

Magilton said: "Quinton Fortune is a lad with great quality who has had a tough few years. An agent has called me and asked me about taking him.

"If he was someone who was anywhere near his true fitness, then he is someone we would invite in.

"There is no problem about bringing in someone of Quinton's ability to our football club. But it is at a very early and tentative stage, although definitely one to watch.”

Fortune looks likely to be an alternative to Rudi Skácel, who like the ex-Bolton man is primarily a left winger, should the deal for the Southampton midfielder collapse.

A £1 million fee has been negotiated between the clubs and reports in the Czech Republic yesterday claimed personal terms had also been agreed. Magilton says he hopes the deal for the ex-Hearts, Marseille and Panathinaikos man will be completed by the end of the week.
