Open Training Session This Morning - Ipswich Town News

The Blues are holding their first ever open training session on the main pitch at Portman Road this morning from 11am.

The squad will be action for around 75 minutes with entry to the Britannia Stand via Gate 1 on Sir Alf Ramsey Way free of charge. Under-13s must be accompanied by an adult.

Town continue their pre-season campaign with a game against West Brom at Portman Road on Saturday afternoon with former Blues skipper Tony Mowbray promising to field a strong side: "The Ipswich game will probably be the first time during pre-season that we will look to field somewhere close to a first-team line-up.”

Boss Jim Magilton appears to have forgiven Danny Haynes for his show of temper against Donegal Celtic last week: "Danny is a manager's nightmare and a manager's dream. He is a young lad, he is spontaneous, he can have adverse reactions and I think it's something that you deal with.

"What he does give you is a massive impact off the bench at the moment. He stakes a claim for a place - without him we can look a little bit one-paced.”

Meanwhile, reports in Scotland again claim that Falkirk boss John Hughes wants Town keeper Shane Supple to return to his club for the new season.

Supple was previously on loan with the Bairns from January until May. Falkirk are also said to be considering another loan move for Newcastle keeper Tim Krul, who spent an earlier part of last season with the Bairns.

Elsewhere, a tabloid report claims Stoke's move for Town target Angelos Charisteas is still ongoing. Yesterday, Potters boss Tony Pulis was said to have met the Greek international's representatives but had decided against taking things any further as Nuremberg's fee and the player's terms were beyond what they are willing to pay.

Today's report suggests that may just have been the first step in the negotiation process.

Town's U15s progressed into the quarter-finals of their section at the Dana Cup in Denmark yesterday with an 8-0 victory over Georgians 35 Football School. They take on Norwegians Vidar FK this morning with the semi-final later today and the final tomorrow.
