Charisteas Deal Dead - Agent - Ipswich Town News

Angelos Charisteas's agent Paul Koutsoliakos says Town have not taken their interest in the Greek international striker any further in recent weeks. Earlier in the month, the Blues were close to agreeing a fee with Nuremberg for the striker, but appear to have decided against pursuing the deal.

Koutsoliakos said: "If we had something more concrete then we would be willing to listen but there is nothing on the table. I'm aware there was interest a few weeks ago but since then have had no contact with Ipswich Town

"I have had talks with clubs from all around Europe but not with Ipswich Town.”

Town are believed to have made a bid of €3.5 million (£2.7 million) with a three-year deal worth €1.6 million (£20,000-a-week) claimed to be on offer to the player.

Charisteas has said he wants to stay with relegated Nuremberg on a number of occasions, although admitting that England or Spain could tempt him. Almost from the moment Town were linked, reports in Germany and Greece said the 28-year-old wasn't interested in joining the Blues.

Stoke City are understood to have held talks with Nuremberg regarding the former Ajax, Feyenoord, Werder Bremen and Aris Salonica man and a move to a top division side looks more likely than a switch to another club not currently playing top flight football.

Nuremberg themselves would like to sell Greece's Euro 2004 hero as they look to raise cash following their relegation.
