Town Name Cricket Squad - Ipswich Town News

Town have announced their squad for Thursday's Twenty20 cricket match against Ipswich and East Suffolk at Chantry Park. A year ago a similar game ended in a somewhat contrived draw as bad light stopped play in the 22nd over of the Town innings with the Blues two runs short of Ipswich and East Suffolk's 147 all out, having lost 13 wickets.

David Wright is set to skipper the side with Alex Bruce another player to look out for after winning the Man of the Match award last year. Wright, Alan Lee, Jim Magilton, Jordan Rhodes, Tommy Smith, Alex Bruce and football operations co-ordinator Wayne Coghlan will bowl with Shane Supple behind the stumps.

Former Blues manager Sir Bobby Robson has donated a limited edition framed print to a never-to-be-repeated raffle which will be held during the game.

The print, of which only 100 have been produced, is a montage of Robson's football life, signed by the man himself.

Part of the proceeds from the event will go to the Sir Bobby Robson Cancer Foundation and the ex-England boss, who used to take his Town teams to Chantry Park to play similar games, is pleased to be involved in this year's match: "Cricket has always been a game close to my heart.

"This works out perfectly as hopefully I can help Ipswich and East Suffolk in their match against Ipswich Town â€" and also help my charity.”

Entry to the game is free via Chantry Park's London Road entrance, with a bar, refreshments and full sound system. The event starts from 5.45pm with a signed Town shirt also part of the raffle.

Boss Jim Magilton says his side are looking for victory this time around: "We had great fun and enjoyed it last season and we are looking forward to another big night. Like every other game we play we will be going all out to win.”
The match is being sponsored by KPMG, Mad Rabbit Recruitment and SEH/BAC. For more information contact IES CC secretary Dave Little on 01473 729732.

Town: D Wright (c), T Miller, K Lisbie, A Bruce, J Magilton, J Rhodes, T Smith, S Supple, A Lee, W Coghlan, J Hollman. 12th man: D Haynes. Water boy: A Quinn.
