Thatcher on Trial at Wolves - Ipswich Town News
Town target Ben Thatcher has joined Wolves on trial. The left-back was with the Blues on their pre-season trip to Belfast and was subsequently offered a contract at Portman Road.
Reports throughout the week have indicated that an agreement regarding the 32-year-old free agent's move to Town was close, but news that he is with Wolves suggests that no deal could be done.
Mick McCarthy is known to want a left-back and also has Ian Harte, another full-back linked with the Blues, training with his squad at present.
Thatcher played 70 minutes of a behind-closed-doors friendly at Bolton yesterday and McCarthy says he will continue to monitor the ex-Charlton man: "We will be taking a look at Ben in much the same way as we have Ian Harte over the past few days."
Town are believed to have offered Thatcher a one-year deal with an option for a further season.
