Rhodes Hits Three as Reserves Thrash Sudbury - Ipswich Town News

Town's reserves cantered to an easy 6-0 victory at AFC Sudbury on Tuesday evening. Jordan Rhodes netted a hat-trick, while Dean Bowditch, Jaime Peters and Jack Ainsley were also on the scoresheet.

The Blues went in front in the 13th minute when Chris Casement crossed from the right and Rhodes slid in to beat the home keeper.

On 34 it was 2-0 when Dan Harding crossed from the left to Rhodes, who beat a man and hit a shot into the net from just inside the area.

A minute before the break, the Town striker completed his hat-trick, Bowditch crossing, Ed Upson nodding the ball down and Rhodes tapping in from close range.

It took the Blues until the 71st minute to add a fourth, Dean Bowditch receiving a gift from Sudbury defender Brown, who inexplicably passed the ball across his own area to the Town frontman. Bowditch had no trouble in taking advantage.

On 75 a flowing Town moved ended with Jack Ainsley crossing form the right, Bowditch flicking on and Jaime Peters hitting a left-foot shot past the keeper from an angle.

As the rain poured down, the Blues added the sixth in the 79th minute, Casement finding Ainsley on the edge of the box and the striker hitting a low shot beyond the keeper.

Town were very comfortable throughout and only some fine saves from the Sudbury keeper kept the score down to six. Supple made a couple of decent saves, but overall trialist Curtis Haynes-Brown and the rest of the defence had a comfortable evening.

Town: Supple, Casement, Haynes-Brown, Trotter (Reason 66), Naylor (Watson 46), Harding (Robinson 70), Peters, Upson, Rhodes (Ainsley 61), Bowditch, Clarke. Unused: Ward.
