Chief executive Derek Bowden has confirmed that Ivan Campo will join the Blues on Monday once he has completed a medical. The player himself was quoted earlier today saying he had agreed a two-year deal with the Blues.
Bowden told the club site: "I can confirm that we have agreed terms with Ivan over a deal and he will be at Portman Road on Monday for a medical.
"If everything goes well with that - and we have no reason to believe otherwise - then he will sign."
Boss Jim Magilton hopes Campo will prove to be an influence on the club's young players: "Ivan has played at the top level for many years and his experience can be a great asset for us.
"The young players at this club will really benefit from having him around the place."
Campo, 34 and 6ft 1in tall, started his career with a three-year spell at Deportivo Alavés prior to moving to Valencia in 1996. A season later he was with Real Mallorca, before he began five years at Real Madrid, which ended when he joined Bolton permanently in 2003 after a spell on loan.
During his time with Real, Campo, was part of their side which won the Champions League in 1999/00. Capped four times by Spain, the central defender or midfielder was in their 1998 World Cup squad.
News that Campo was at Portman Road on Monday first surfaced on the TWTD Message Board when he was spotted around the ground prior to kick off.
