Walters Set for Stoke Move Talks - Ipswich Town News
Striker Jon Walters is reportedly set for talks with Jim Magilton today regarding his future, with the 24-year-old keen on joining Premier League Stoke City. The Potters have been linked with a move for Town's Player of the Year all summer.
The former Chester man is due back at Town today from two weeks' compassionate leave on the Wirral while his wife Joanne gave birth to their second child, however, it has been widely understood that the time off also had much to do with questions regarding his playing future.
As previously reported by TWTD, the Republic of Ireland B international is believed to have made a transfer request prior to being allowed his spell away from the club. The player and his family are understood to want to move nearer to their families in the North-West, while a switch to a Premier League side also has its obvious attractions.
Town have consistently denied that a formal transfer request has been received or that Stoke have made an official bid.
Again as previously reported by TWTD, Town will not allow Walters to leave unless a bid of £3 million is received.
Stoke are unlikely to be the only Premier League club interested in the much-travelled frontman with Wigan boss Steve Bruce a known admirer.
