Lee Again Linked With Crystal Palace Move - Ipswich Town News

Striker Alan Lee continues to be linked with a move to Crystal Palace. Neil Warnock's club are set to make a £550,000 bid for the 29-year-old, according to various reports this morning.

Yesterday, Town denied that they had received a bid for Lee after a national newspaper reported the story, but Palace are known to want a striker and Lee looks like he could be surplus to requirements at Portman Road should the Blues sign another frontman.

Town's interest in Portsmouth's David Nugent is well known, while the link with Shola Ameobi has also been revived this morning, presumably due the former England U21 international telling a Newcastle newspaper yesterday that he hopes the Magpies won't ask too high a fee for him: "I hope it will not be the case that I get priced out of a move.

"If the club don't want me, they know that I've been a faithful servant, so, in a perfect world, being allowed to leave for a reasonable price would happen.”

Lee has said on innumerable occasions that he wants to stay at Town and in settled in the area, however, TWTD understands that the Irishman has engaged an agent to ensure that if the Blues do sign another striker, he will be able to find another club before the transfer window closes.

Palace aren't the only side interested, Huddersfield having made an offer for the former Cardiff man when they approached the Blues regarding Gary Roberts last month. Lee was left out of the friendlies at Gillingham and Tiptree but the striker decided against the move, while Roberts moved on.

The ex-Rotherham man isn't interested in a drop down a division and doesn't want to move away from the area. A switch to Palace or another London-based Championship club would, however, be of interest, particularly if Lee was to find himself further down the Town pecking order.
