Amzine Trial - Ipswich Town News

TWTD has learnt that Moroccan international defender Gharib Amzine may be about to come on trial at Town. The Strasbourg player was linked to Town in January and apparently had a trial arranged with the Blues which was scuppered by an injury with the player keen to impress Town and the club interested in the player.

The Moroccan, who was in his nation's squad at France 98, has previously played with the French club Mulhouse and is 27-years-old. Strasbourg are in financial straits and need to get rid of players. During the French transfer window in January they put eight players up for transfer including Gharib. This was when Town's interest was first reported. He has made little impression at Strasbourg since he moved there.

Bizarrely one website cites his likes as playing tennis, Cary Grant and eating couscous while his dislikes are apparently Malibu and eating kidneys.

Matt Holland and Hermann Hreidarsson were both on the winning side last night in international matches. Holland's Ireland struggled to a 3-1 victory over Andorra in Dublin while Hreidarsson's Icelanders won 4-1 against Malta.

Amir Karic started for Slovenia and played 65 minutes as they lost a friendly with Denmark 3-0.
