Burley on Injuries and Charlton - Ipswich Town News

Richard Wright will be back in training tomorrow, but George Burley insists he will not be pushed too quickly. The Town keeper missed out against Coventry with a back injury, but has been improving all week.

Burley said: "From last week's injuries, James Scowcroft is still struggling while Richard Wright will join in training tomorrow. Fabian Wilnis played a reserve game last night and should be OK to join the squad. Richard Naylor also played in the reserves."

But the club are being careful with Wright: "We won't be forcing him to train, he has two extra days with the game on Monday."

Other than Scowcroft the only other injury is Gary Croft who missed the reserve game. Burley said of the full-back: "Croft was feeling his groin, a bit of tightness."

Martijn Reuser is OK after a minor hamstring problem at the weekend. Of the Dutchman the manager said: "Martijn came off as a precaution, he'll be OK."

Burley is confident that Marcus Stewart might win the Golden Boot, but isn't really that concerned who scores: "We don't mind who scores for us as long as we're winning."

Last season Town beat Charlton 3-1 at the Valley, Burley described that as "a tremendous performance in which we played very well."

Since then Claus Jensen has chosen to join Charlton ahead of Town, but that doesn't bother the manager: "Claus Jensen is an outstanding player and he has shown that for Charlton this season. It was one of those scenarios where he decided he wanted to live in London. However, we haven't really missed him as others in the midfield have done so well."

Burley says his side are enjoying the battle at the top of the Division, but claims there isn't as much stress as there was last year: "There are three games left, we're in third position, we're in Europe, which is incredible, but we're enjoying it."

Burley is aware of Charlton's good away record this season: "Charlton have an exceptional home record, but our away record is second to none. And I mean none!"

The Town manager also revealed that Wayne Brown has been called back from his loan spell at QPR. The centre-half missed a number of games for the Rangers with an injury, but he will be fit enough to go into the squad for next week's two reserve games.
