Magilton Confirms Ameobi Loan Possibility - Ipswich Town News

Boss Jim Magilton has confirmed that the Blues are looking to take Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi on loan with a view to a permanent move, as predicted by TWTD on Tuesday. Magilton is also still hopeful regarding his attempt to sign Fulham's Moritz Volz.

The Town manager said the Ameobi situation is still under discussion: "I was very impressed with him and with his desire. He is a really nice lad and maybe a loan until January can be worked out, although we will have to see what Newcastle think about that.

"If not, I have other irons in the fire and I am still looking to bring in two permanent transfers by the deadline on September 1st, with a defender and another attacking option the priorities.”

Magilton says Volz is talking to Fulham about his proposed move to the Blues: "We are waiting to see if Moritz clears things up with Fulham and if so that will be great for us, but if not we will move on.

"He is someone who feels he can still play in the Premier League and we feel the same way about him and want to give him the opportunity.”

Magilton says he has received no bids for either Alex Bruce or Alan Lee, despite Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock confirming his interest in the Town striker, while the Blues have not approached Celtic regarding striker Chris Killen.

Talks with Alex Bruce's agent are continuing regarding a new contract, contrary to a report earlier in the week which claimed the former Birmingham man had turned down a new deal.

The Blues boss says he is still looking for loan clubs for the likes of Jaime Peters, Chris Casement, Dean Bowditch, Jai Reason, Ed Upson and Kurt Robinson, but will be keeping Jordan Rhodes at Portman Road. Earlier in the summer Northampton Town admitted their interest in the striker, while Magilton says a number of other clubs have enquired regarding the 18-year-old's availability.
