Town Continue to Cultivate Valencia Link - Ipswich Town News

Boss Jim Magilton says he could again look at the Spanish market as he looks to add to his squad in the final week of the transfer window. The Blues have been cultivating links with La Liga side Valencia for the last couple of seasons and hope this may pay dividends.

Magilton said: "We have a contact at Valencia that we are trying to explore and we are building that up as we speak.”

Town technical skills coach Steve Foley has a flat in the Spanish city and last year made three trips to take a look at their training methods.

After his second visit in June 2007 Foley said: "A link-up is possible and I shall be meeting Valencia coach Quique Flores [now manager of Benfica] again.

"There is a chance we can loan players from one club to the other, and a spell in Spain would be beneficial to one or two of our youngsters."

Foley was also back in the city in May when he watched the local derby between Levante and Valencia.

In Pablo Couñago and Iván Campo, the Blues already have two Spaniards, while full-back Sito returned home to join UD Salamanca over the summer after being released by Town.
