Clarke at Darlington Until January - Ipswich Town News

Town have confirmed that striker Billy Clarke is to remain at Darlington until January after all. Initial reports said the Irishman was moving to the Quakers until the new year, but subsequent claims put the deal at only an extra month.

Boss Jim Magilton told the club site: "Billy is getting games at Darlington and that is what he needs.

"We are happy for him to stay there until January. It's about him playing football on a regular basis, getting games under his belt and hopefully scoring a few goals."

So far Clarke has scored one goal in five starts and manager Dave Penney been pleased with the Cork-born frontman's contribution: "In his brief time so far with Darlington, Billy has shown the potential to play a prominent part in our frontline during this League Two campaign, so we have extended his loan spell to reflect that.

"It is still early going in the season, but Billy has been involved in each game and I believe his goal at Walsall heralds the potential for more to come."
