Quiet Start to Transfer Window's Final Day - Ipswich Town News

The final day of the transfer window has started quietly from a Town perspective with no new tabloid links or, as far as we're aware, ongoing deals.

Long-term target David Nugent is reported to be interesting Wigan on a season-long loan basis, while West Brom are again linked, having been reported to be ready to make a £4 million offer to Portsmouth for the ex-Preston striker over the weekend.

Fulham striker Heidar Helguson, linked with the Blues and a number of other Championship clubs last week, is said to be on his way to Norwich City on a season-long loan.

Town boss Jim Magilton, who could send more of his youngsters out on loan today, is still looking for a big striker and a left midfielder, but may be forced to wait until the emergency loan window opens in a week's time.

Contrary to reports elsewhere, the Blues will be able to loan Premier League players outside the transfer window with the Football League confirming to TWTD that the rules on emergency loans are the same as they were for the 2007/08 season.

Football League sides can loan players from other English clubs for up to a maximum of 93 days, but no longer.
