Norwich DAB Ban "Petty" and "Embarr - Ipswich Town News

Norwich's decision to block digital coverage of Town games in Norfolk and North Suffolk has been slammed by top ranking Church of England official and Canary the Rev Canon Graham Hedger. The chaplain to the Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich has called the move "embarrassing” and "petty”.

TWTD first revealed the Canaries' move to prevent SGR FM's Town commentary being carried by Norfolk Gold's DAB service a fortnight ago with the ban provoking anger amongst Town supporters, particularly in North Suffolk.

The Rev Canon Hedger says the move flies in the face of previous attempts by both clubs to bring fans together: "It is very, very petty. It is highly embarrassing and I do not see why Norwich are being like this.

"Over the years there have been lots of initiatives to get supporters together and this is a silly decision by my club.

"I have written to the chief executive of Norwich to tell him so and I hope on Monday morning they will contact the Football League and withdraw their objections.”
