Town Target Ventola - Reports - Ipswich Town News

Town have made an enquiry to Serie A side Torino regarding striker Nicola Ventola, according to reports in Italy this afternoon. The clubs have discussed the possibility of a move but as yet there is no agreement.

The vastly experienced former Italian U21 international joined Il Toro from Atalanta a year ago and scored four goals in 21 appearances in Serie A last season.

Ventola, 30, started his career with local side Bari in 1994, moving on to Inter in 1998.

In 1999 Ventola, 6ft 2in tall, joined Bologna on loan, then went on a similar spell at Atalanta before returning to Inter.

Another loan, this time at Siena followed, prior to a short-lived move to then-Premier League Crystal Palace but injury restricted him to three sub appearances and one goal before he moved back to Italy with Atalanta before last summer's switch to Torino.

Town have been targeting a frontman in the mould of Ventola all summer, however, the signing of Jon Stead on loan earlier today may mean the Italian is no longer in the Blues' plans.

However, with Jon Walters's future still in the balance, Jim Magilton may well be looking for another big attacker to augment his squad.
