Johnson, Shawcross and Carroll Linked Again - Ipswich Town News

Town are again linked with Middlesbrough left winger Adam Johnson, Stoke central defender Ryan Shawcross and Newcastle striker Andy Carroll by this morning's tabloids. The Blues are looking to add two players to their squad this week on an emergency loan basis.

TWTD first reported Town's interest in England U21 international Johnson in June, while Shawcross was tipped to be joining the Blues on a short-term deal by a national newspaper earlier in the week. Derby County have also been linked with the former Manchester United trainee.

England U19 international Carroll was first linked with the Blues a year ago but eventually joined Preston on loan, where he scored one goal in seven starts and five sub appearances.

The 19-year-old 6ft 3in frontman was again mentioned in connection with a move to Portman Road earlier in the summer, but now seems an unlikely target with Town having signed Jon Stead on loan from Sheffield United until January.
