Reserves 3-4 Wycombe Wanderers - Ipswich Town News

Town's reserves fell to their first defeat of the season as Wycombe Wanderers came from behind to record a 4-3 victory at Portman Road. The Blues threw the game away in the second half after Dean Bowditch had netted a first half hat-trick to make the score 3-1 at the break.

Bowditch started the scoring in the opening minute, powerfully heading home Paul Murphy's cross.

The visitors equalised on the half hour, Matt Harrold seizing on a poor header by Alex Bruce and setting up Magno Vieira, who beat Lewis Ward.

Bowditch put the Blues back in front six minutes later, Murphy again supplying the cross and the former England U19 international striker beating the keeper with a low shot.

The frontman completed his hat-trick three minutes before the break with a shot from just outside the box from Reggie Lambe's lay-back.

All Town's good first half work was undone after the break. Two minutes into the second period Alex Bruce pulled back a Wycombe player inside the area and Harrold converted the spotkick.

Robert Rice scored the Chairboys' third in the 50th minute after a swift counter attack, before Wycombe grabbed a surprise winner on 76.

Kurt Robinson passed the ball back to keeper Lewis Ward, who smashed his clearance straight at sub Dan Fitchett, who netted the winner with his first touch of the ball.

Bowditch, midfielder Matt Daniels and Paul Murphy were the pick of the Town players in the first half. The second half defensive display will have been a huge let down for reserves boss Chris Kiwomya, whose side also let in three at Colchester last week.

Reserves: Ward, Clemo, Bruce, Smith, Robinson, Peters, Daniels (Ainsley 78), Trotter, Lambe, Murphy, Bowditch. Unused: Stensrud, Watson, Dunbar, Hyam. Att: 219.
