Smith Undergoes Surgery - Ipswich Town News

Central defender Tommy Smith has undergone surgery on his broken ankle and is expected to make a full recovery. The 18-year-old picked up the injury in training last Monday.

Physio Matt Byard told the club site: "The operation went very well. Our specialist, Mark Bowditch, has told us that he expects Tommy to make a full recovery.

"He will be on crutches for six to eight weeks and then we will start his rehab from there. We expect Tommy to be out for about six months."

Smith made his first team debut on the opening day of the season against Preston North End but has not featured since.
