Jim Unhappy With Goals - Ipswich Town News

Boss Jim Magilton was unhappy with the two goals his side conceded at Charlton but wasn't too displeased with the overall performance as the Blues lost 2-1.

Magilton felt the sixth minute freekick from Nicky Bailey which sneaked inside Richard Wright's left post: "I'll have to have a look at the freekick, I'm not sure a goalkeeper should be beaten on that side.

"I thought 1-1 was a fair reflection on the play at the break. We finished the half strongly and I think if we had showed some more composure and quality in the second half, we could have gone on to get a really good result.

"But we were competitive and showed a real desire to try to get something which is exactly what you want.

"Both goals were bad goals to give away. Moritz has held his hands up for the second. He knows he got the wrong side of his man.

"I think there were plenty of positives to take from the game though. Last season we got battered for the first half but there was nothing between the two sides this time.

"We just need to show a little more belief that we can go to places like Charlton and come away with three points.

"We had chances but it wasn't to be our day and now we have to regroup again through the break and come out of it a better side."

Charlton manager Alan Pardew was relieved to get the three points: "My emotion afterwards was relief for Charlton as a club, we really needed that win. The pressure was on.

"When you've been manager of West Ham for four years you get used to pressure, but this week has been tough. I've not been sleeping too well, but I can sleep tonight."
